Gyasar

This heavy brocade in silk, viscose with gold and silver zari is woven on the pitloom in a width of only 23” and a weaver can produce just a few inches in a day, to a maximum length of three-and-a-half metres to maintain the tautness of the warp. The elaborate patterns are created in kadwa, where multiple wefts are interlaced to create a pattern. Traditionally woven with large heraldic, monastic and mythical motifs, typically used in Tibetan ceremonial costumes and ritualistic hangings.
