Fekwa

Fekwa is an age-old brocade technique with an extra weft. As the name suggests, the extra weft is thrown from one end of the fabric to the other in such a way that on the top only the design is seen, while on the backside the loose threads float in the remaining portion creating exquisite designs. Using silk, resham, or zari on shuttles, motifs are woven together for faster saree completion. Fekwa, with precise patterns, adorns heavy brocades and sheer fabrics, showcasing skilled weavers in Banaras.
